Was really long...now, not so much

So I bought this super long, high waist opera/formal/black tie/"insert-reason-for-needing-a-skirt-this-long-and-stiff-here" skirt from the thrift store a little bit ago, and I had been eyeballing it trying to figure out how to make it wearable in my actual everyday life!

Simply stated, I hacked off the bottom, (okay, not hacked, but lovingly trimmed) to just above my knee, and hemmed it. Voila! A "fits me like a glove" high waisted pencil skirt! I'm especially excited about this refashion because the others I've come across have been ill-constructed, too short or made from some weird fabric I'd never wear. So YAY me for pulling it off!

More to come,

Peace!

I had a friend send this to me a while back (I think it's Deepak Chopra, not totally sure though). Just some inspirational mini-changes you can make in your everyday actions to allow life to love you back! Enjoy!

Health:
1. Drink plenty of clean water.
2. Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like
a beggar.
3. Eat more foods that grow on trees and plants and eat less food
that is manufactured in plants..
4. Live with the 3 E's -- Energy, Enthusiasm and Empathy.
5. Make time to pause and reflect.
6. Play more.
7. Read more publications/documents on improving your life and helping others in some way than you did in 2009 .
8. Sit in silence for at least 10 minutes each day.
9. Sleep for 7 hours.
10. Take a 10-30 minutes walk daily. And while you walk, smile.

Personality:
11. Don't compare your life to others. You have no idea what their
journey is all about.
12. Don't have negative thoughts or things you cannot
control. You become what you think about. Instead invest your energy in the positive present moment.
13. Don't over do. Keep your limits.
14. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.
15. Don't waste your precious energy on gossip.
16. Dream more while you are awake.
17. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.
18. Don't dwell over issues of the past.
19. Don't remind your partner with his/her mistakes of the
past. That will ruin your present happiness.
20. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone. Don't hate others.
21. Make peace with your past so it won't spoil the present.
22. No one is in charge of your happiness except you.
23. Realize that life is like school, and you are here to learn.
Problems are simply part of the curriculum that appear and
fade away like algebra class but the lessons you learn will
last a lifetime.
24. Smile and laugh more.
25. You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree...

Society:
26. Call your family often.
27. Each day give something good to others.
28. Treat others as you want others to treat you.
29. Spend time with people over the age of 70 and under the age of 6.
30. Try to make at least three people smile each day.
31. What other people think of you is none of your business.
32. Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends
will. Stay in touch.

Life:
33. Do the right thing!
34. Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful or joyful.
35. Time heals most everything.
36. However good or bad a situation is, it will change..
37. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.
38. The best is yet to come..
39. When you awake alive in the morning, be thankful for it.
40. Your inner most is always happy. So, be happy.

Love,

Madam b.Fly

One More Time!!!

Hey, Everyone! Okay...I'm wiping my blog clean. There are so many things I want to talk about, and I 'm gonna give myself the opportunity to do just that. Hope you enjoy the ride! We'll go from style to recipes to sewing to natural hair care to activism to running to dance to whatever else I'm passionate about at the time! At some point, I may narrow it down, and maybe even divide this blog into a couple others if the need calls for it, but for now, it'll just be fun. You game? Great! See you around!

Love,

Zuri

BTW, those of you who were bookmarking me for the Chocolate Chip Scone recipe or the Coconut Curry Soup Recipe, I'll repost those for you, or you can drop me an e-mail and I'll pop it in your inbox. Deal? Deal...:)
